England  

England faces multiple weather warnings over the coming days, including:

  • Monday, December 30: A yellow wind warning is in place for the North Pennines and Yorkshire Dales from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., cautioning against potential travel disruptions and short-term power outages.  
  • New Year's Eve: Another yellow alert for strong winds will affect the northeast, stretching towards Bridlington and Carlisle. This warning, valid from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., highlights risks of travel delays.  

New Year's Day: Two warnings are issued:  

  • A strong wind alert covering southern England and parts of the West Midlands from 7 a.m. to midnight.  
  • A heavy rain warning for the northwest, including areas like Manchester, Liverpool, and Preston, valid from 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve to 6 p.m. on New Year's Day.  

Wales

Central Wales will be under a yellow warning for heavy rain from 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve until 6 p.m. on New Year's Day.This encompasses areas from the north to the south coast, with potential for localized flooding and travel difficulties. 

Scotland

Scotland is forecasted to experience some of the most severe weather conditions, with five distinct alerts:  

  • Rain and Snow: A yellow warning is active across most of Scotland until 11:59 p.m. on December 30, warning of potential flooding and travel disruptions.  
  • Amber Alert: Central Scotland faces an amber warning for rain from midnight tonight until 5 p.m. on December 31, with significant flooding risks and potential property damage.  
  • Wind: Southern regions, including Edinburgh and Glasgow, will be under a yellow wind warning from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on New Year's Eve.  
  • Snow and Ice: Northern Scotland will see a yellow alert for snow and ice from midnight on January 1 to 9 a.m. on January 2.  
  • Orkney: A separate snow warning applies from 5 a.m. on New Year's Eve to midnight.  

Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland will experience:  

  •  New Year's Eve: A yellow wind warning from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., affecting areas like Belfast, Londonderry, and Larne.  
  • New Year's Day: Heavy snow was initially expected to impact the region; however, the alert has been withdrawn.
